    Default Trouble installing Nvidia Driver

I just updated my kernel to 2.6.30.5, following the instructions on the RE blog to the letter. When it got to the dist-upgrade, installing the nvidia driver, I got an error.
    Code:
    (EE) NV(0): G80 PROBE_DETECT unimplemented
The nvidia-driver installer also gives the output that it's putting my new xorg.conf in /root/xorg.conf.new. The xorg.conf is not updated to use the nvidia driver, it still uses the nv driver. Running nvidia-xconfig and then startx gives me the output that it can't find the kernel module "nvidia" and that no screens were found. Changing the driver in xorg.conf back to "nv" allows the x server to start. Forcing the old driver gives no problem when installing, but when the x server is started it complains that the kernel nvidia module is 190.18 and refuses to start.

No dice. Got the kernel sources tar off apt, unzipped, cd'd in, make-kpkg kernel_headers, dpkg -i deb_file_that_was_created.deb, fixed the symlink, make'd the kernel, rebooted, apt-get install nvidia-driver, same error. I just held down enter to select all defaults when making the kernel headers though, I didn't know what config file to copy into the source folder. Could selecting all defaults have been the problem?

Ok, but I can't for the life of me find the 190.18.4 driver on the nvidia site. It keeps directing me to the 185.18.36 driver (I have an 8M series). I've tried manually going to the link where it should be on Nvidia's download servers, but nothing there either. Am i being dense?
