Can't switch to another shell

Hello

My english is not so good so i will try to explain it the best i can. I'm using windows 7. When i start backtrack in windows via vmware i can open new shells and switch between the shells. But when i start backtrack in windows it won't work. When i restart my laptop and boot from the cd it automatic starts backtrack. From this point it will work. But,... when i open a new shell with Alt F2, i don't know how to switch back to the previous shell. Can anyone help me? Thnx
