In Ubuntu auto complete works for apt-get:
if you type "apt-get install dovecot" and then tab two times:
It doesn't work in Backtrack.Code:root@ubuntu:~$ apt-get install dovecot dovecot dovecot-dev dovecot-pop3d dovecot-common dovecot-imapd dovecot-postfix

bash_completion is a cool utility, you can easily expand it to work with your own programs.
