Hmmm,
I use the Alfa with no problems on a laptop with built in wifi - try:
ifconfig wlan0 down
airmon-ng start wlan0
airodump-ng wlan0
I have BT4 installed on a laptop. The laptop has an internal wifi (ra0), but I am using the Alfa awus036H for testing.
My Alfa does not see any beacons except for my test wep, which I have cracked. But I thought today when playing around getting ready to test WPA, that it sees only my beacons, and not any other networks. I must have a setting wrong?
So I put down the card using the following:
ifconfig wlan0 down
iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor
ifconfig wlan0 up
Then I started airodump-ng mon0, which shows all the networks, but still only shows beacons for my router.
However, when I enable the ra0, it shows beacons for all networks, not just mine.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? I am a newbie, but trying to learn.
*I'm a girl, not a guy. Why do I care? The same reason a guy would care if he was constantly thought of as a girl...*
