1) Enter BIOS
Reason for this (and potential Xorg/fglrx Problems you may have had) is the hybrid graphic card in your Thinkpad, which presents itself in a way fglrx can't handle (yet), thus it says it can't pre-init the device from BIOS.
---> Set Graphics to: Discrete
---> Set OS Detection of Switchable: Disabled
2) Boot the LiveCD in Default Mode, setup internet connection first, then:
Your HD 3650 is supported by the Catalyst 9.5 driver, so yay-steam!
root@bt:~# apt-get update
root@bt:~# apt-get install ati-driver
3) Getting fglrx built
4) Load fglrx
root@bt:~# cd /lib/modules/fglrx
5) Start X and Have fun
root@bt:/lib/modules/fglrx# modprobe fglrx
From here on out you can check out the Installation tutorials and screencasts. As I said, its nothing too spectacular, but may save someone a google query or two. I'll edit/expand this if I find any other hiccups that I can solve, but so far everything else works smoothly.
