attacking channel 13 ap

Hi all ive been trying to test wep and wpa attacks against a test ap on channel 13 in know its not the norm for the uk i have done it once but it wont stay on correct channel in airodump says c 13 fixed channel mon0 1 ect any ideas? and could this be a small measure against this attack?
