Default BT4 Tool Changes - Question

    Hi everyone,

I've been reading these forums for a long time now, on multiple user names. I never really post because there is so much information to absorb, I am all for utilizing the very primitive action of searching, so please spare me the flaming.

However, I have to ask you all of your opinions instead of pulling them out of context.

I am a Ubuntu user and a working IT Professional, however sometimes I have a hard time understanding seemingly spontaneous changes. I have become quite accustomed to the different methods of simple actions (such as dhcpcd, iwconfig / ifconfig details) in BT3, even though they are different then in BT4 and Ubuntu.

Is there a largely important reason the architecture of backtrack has migrated to a more Ubuntu apt-get no mad-wifi sort of environment that I am missing?

I was just wondering while messing around with the latest BT4 disk that I burnt and I'd love to hear. Thanks guys.

I think this was covered in the blog.

However, I believe the shortest answer to be that they wanted the Ubuntu style software repositories to ease the development and upgrade processes for Backtrack. You can check the blog I linked above to make sure though...

*Edited because I linked to the old blog site instead of the new one...my bad*

Alright, cool. I just always figured they almost purposely left everything to the more detailed and complex method for the sake of turning away the skiddies, hah.

If you spend a little time looking at the idiots corner and the last few pages of the newbie section you will see your answers appear.
To be successful here you should read all of the following.
    ForumRules
    ForumFAQ
If you are new to Back|Track
    Back|Track Wiki
Failure to do so will probably get your threads deleted or worse.
