The BT3 virtual machine image on the download page

Can someone please tell me how it was made? Step by step?
Meaning , were there some extra steps taken to make it able to be .rar'ed up and let loose to the masses where it works like a charm on whatever machine uses it?

I would really appreciate the creators' help in doing this as I have tried different virtualization engines , different hardware partition schemes and have come up with nothing.

Obviously copy and pasting the VMachine folder in a new area does not work. Neither does archiving the folder then unarchiving in a new place.

I hope someone out there can help me with this!
