I have an Acer Aspire One 150-1777 and I personally wanted to get the splash screen working. So I took the time and figured it out so I thought I'd share.

So I started by following hatake_kakashi's tut and then read a little further down and saw muts method which was a lot more simple. So I started by typing the following code in the terminal.

fix-splash800
This corrects some coding that doesn't copy over the same during the install into your /boot/grub/menu.lst~ file.

Then I went into my my /boot/grub/menu.lst and simply did a search for all 0x317 and replaced them with 0x314. Now I have a working boot splash ^_^ Hope this saved someone some time and headache.
