    Default Dell Wireless 1397 minicard driver not loaded

    hi
    my Dell Wireless 1397 (802.11 b/g) Minicard driver not loaded in bt4
    iwconfig result
    eth0 No wireless extensions
    eth1 ieee 80211bg

    arimon-ng start eth1

    interface chipeset driver
    eth1 unknown wl (monitor mode enbaled)

    and in airodump-ng
    ioctl(siocgifindex) failed:no such device

    Well that was a helpful post.

    Your card is broadcom based and not very well supported in linux. Supposedly there are closed source drivers in the Ubuntu repositories, but I don't know if they were carried over into the backtrack repos.

    My wifi card says that your problem does
    If a problem then why does
    in reuslt airodump-ng
    ioctl(siocgifindex) failed:no such device
    ?

    Like I said spotty drivers. The system sees the card, but doesn't know what to do with it.

    The package name if I remember correctly off my head is known as broadcom-sta however I'm sure you can always search for it via apt-cache, aptitude or even synaptic.

    Don't expect it to be working well because this driver is mostly a binary blob which broadcom specifically released without rfmon support. Thank broadcrap
