Default Help! Bt3 won't boot on vista

    Hi,

I have used my BT3 live disk on XP succesfully before.

This is my current laptop spec: if it helps
    Notebook PC*-* Product Specifications*
    HP tx2524
    2.00 GHz AMD Turion X2 RM-70 Dual-Core Mobile Processor

When I try to boot into backtrack 3 in any version
the laptop runs through that screen and then all of a sudden shuts down my laptop. I have tried reburning the .iso to make sure the cd is not damaged.

    here is a video:
link cant be posted until 15 posts youtube - "Backtrack 3 problem"

For other members: it's this one...

Seems that you need to go to BIOS setup and look for potential "HDD lock"..last step it's trying to do is to copy the files.. not sure where, but you can give the bios a go...

PS: Did you check MD5 of your iso?

I'm sorry but what is the "MD5"? I am still new to this stuff

Ok, so I got the backtrack 3 to work after I updated my laptops BIOS,
how ever it only appears to be working with KDE VESA the last option out of the 3.
I am still a linux noob, so when I select the KDE version or the second option my screen flickers off and on, then it takes me to this screen where I have to log in as root + toor and tried the "mc/startx/xconf" commands and get no where..
But on my XP laptop, I could select just KDE the first option and it would load into the OS.

So what is the difference in the backtrack versions KDE and KDE vesa etc.

    thanks!

If you don't know even that, don't go an trying to use Backtrack.

Start to learn the basics, computer basics, network basics, linux basics and programming basics.

Download Ubuntu, install it and learn. When you learned the basics of each section come back and ask if there are any questions left.

Let me ask what you want to use BT for at all?

Dude, he said "won't boot on Vista". He obviously has no freaking clue what he's doing.
