This is easy as hell ma'boy.
When grub menu appears, select recovery mode, then select fix xserver (that last option that says fix)
And you're done !
Note: ignore the "you might loose some configuration" i did it and havent got any problems.![]()
Was wondering if anyone could provide me with some assistance on the following problem I am having?
I was connecting an external monitor to my backtrack box (eeepc) and when the external display did not appear, I changed the KDE graphics settings to cater for an external screen (I selected some option about cloning the screen). In the process I think the resolution re-jigged itself aswell.
As a result, I am unable to boot into x11 now -- even with an external monitor attached. Upon typing startx I am receiving the following:
Fatal server error:
no screens found
giving up
If anyone could throw me some ideas in relation to this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

For everyone's information, this also works:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
My method works the same, and for people that havent made the root pswrd, but thanks for the reply, it helps out too !
