atheros Ar5007eg wireless card help

Hi, i have booted backtrack 4 and i can see ath5k under airmon-ng, so i assume that this is my wireless card, then i set it to monitor mode and it starts it as mon0. But then i try to do airodump and it wont find any networks but i am arround like 10 networks, so do i need to enable the card somehow or am i doing something wrong? When using my wireless card in windows i'm required to use a software swith called launch manager to enable my wireless card. How do i enable my card in BT4?
Any help will be much appreciated!!
