    Default Swap partition

Is a swap partition really needed/beneficial? The various tutorials on installing backtrack sometimes include the swap partition or omit it (is its creation implied? does ubiquity do it automatically?)

What's the reality of a swap partition and linux on a 3 gig ram intel dual core laptop running BT4?

Well since you went to all that effort to check various tutorials and noticed that some use it and some don't why not use that same search fu and find an answer that will suit your needs?

For your specs you probably don't need one.
