i don't see exactly where the problem is, but try to sniff the wire with wireshark when you use your usb adapter and your default card to see what's going on and to compare
Ok, I have a SMC EZ Connect 802.11g usb adapter.
It works, I can connect to the internet with it but I seem to have some problems when using some Backtrack tools, for example:
Nmap.
If I try to scan a random ip with nmap I get ports "filtered" (wireless usb) and when I scan the same IP from my wireless card I get ports "opened" , "closed" , "filtered".
The second thing is ssh.
I can't connect to any ssh with my wireless usb. But with my wireless card it works.
Any ideeas ?

I got it working, reinstalled driver.
