    Default Trouble Installing ATI-Drivers

Ok this time I have searched google and this forum and found nothing. I have an ATI Xpress 200M graphics card and am trying to get the drivers installed. First I tried the 9.2 and 9.3 proprietary linux driver. After I installed startx went to a black screen so I rebooted and typed the suggested aticonfig --initial -f and attempted to log in. After this command, instead of black screen I got a grey screen which honestly isn't much better.

Then I tried doing an apt-get install ati-driver, but that failed saying

    Setting up ati-driver (9.5-bt1) ...
insmod: error inserting '/lib/modules/2.6.29.4/kernel/drivers/char/agp/agpgart.ko': -1 File exists
insmod: error inserting 'fglrx.ko': -1 Cannot allocate memory
    aticonfig: No supported adapters detected
    dpkg: error processing ati-driver (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 255
    Errors were encountered while processing:
    ati-driver
    E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1
So does anybody have any suggestions on how to get this card installed or is it not possible?

As stated on this page the X200 is not supported by the 9.5 or newer driver.

What is written in the X server's log file when using the 9.3 driver? Did you configure the X server after installing the driver?
