    Hi Cheapbyte,

    Thanks for taking the time to try and help get round this. The above quoate is exactly what I'm getting to from a live CD bootup. The desktop folder appears and it all seems to be there but no shortcuts in menu as the main apps can't be found. When i look in the console window I find exactly the same problem as pastilla.

    I also extracted and ran ur archieve at root. If you could run though exactly all the commands and outputs you recieve from a live boot CD session (as opposed to a USB or HardDisk persistant session) that would probably help everyone strugling with this.

    To save clogging the board maybe you could upload snapshots of the process to mediafire but thats just an idea if you have the time.

    Thanks again Cheapbyte, I'm sure we'll get there.

    PS i read that spoonwpa will support the new optimised wpa crack method which will find a key in under 1 min in certain cases...how handy is that!

    Hi pastilla,

    Thanks for your reply.

    Followed instructions to the letter in the post you referenced. All seemed fine as the interfaces for both spoons fire up in my BT4 bootup. However when you try the identify victim tab it doesnt work and reports errors. In addition if you skip to the attact tab and enter known details ( I used the details of my own wifi network as the test and have done so without a problem using spoonwep in BT3) the spoon never associates. It seems that the spoon interfaces are not properly accessing the aircrack backbone.

    remove aircrack-ng of backtrack 4, I think you have two aircrack-ng at this moment.

    apt-get remove aircrack-ng and probe.

    This is the problem no maintenance in bt4.......

    For install the latest aircrack-ng stable:

    download aircrack-ng-1.0.tar.gz

    hxxp://forum.aircrack-ng.org/index.php?topic=6046.0

    #wget hxxp://download.aircrack-ng.org/aircrack-ng-1.0.tar.gz
    # tar xfz aircrack-ng-1.0.tar.gz
    # cd aircrack-ng-1.0
    # make clean
    # make sqlite=true
    # make sqlite=true install

    Thanks pastilla,

    Still haven't quite got there, these are the commands i use after a BT4 graphics safe mode bootup and after running the gui with startx,

    opened a console and ran apt-get remove aircrack-ng.
    this removed the installed version of aircrack

    then copied aircrack-ng-1.0.tar.gz, and spoonwep-wpa-rc3.deb to the desktop

    then ran

    # tar xfz aircrack-ng-1.0.tar.gz
    # cd aircrack-ng-1.0
    # make clean
    # make sqlite=true
    # make sqlite=true install

    all seemed to work fine

    then ran

    cd ..
    sudo dpkg -i spoonwep-wpa-rc3.deb

    seemed to work fine

    then to run

    gksudo spoonwep

    this fires up spoonwep fine

    I set card to wlan0, driver to normal and victim to unknown, when i hit launch i get this error in the console window:

    Error: /usr/local/bin/wifispoonfeeder/spoonwep/tmp/wscapture-01.txt (No such file or directory)

    What do you think will fix this as its the only error i now see.

    Also is there a newer build of the spoon package you could give us or is spoonwep-wpa-rc3.deb the latest.

    If it is the latest where can we check for updates in this format (ie deb) as this seems to extract ok.

    Very greatfull to pastilla and Cheapbyte who are helping to make the spoons work in BT4 final!!

    Hi Cheapbyte,

    Your package gave the same error in BT3 but still works in this version, I sucessfully ran Spoonwpa however the link to SpoonWep just fires up the old version. I assume that's because i haven't removed it before installing yours.

    Could you please give me the commands i need to remove the spoonwep package from BT3 if you know them. Also does anyone know the commands to remove the aircrack suite from BT3 and install the new one in its place. Tried those mentioned by pastilla but they dont work for BT3.

    Once i get both BT3 and 4 fully working I'll post a full command rundown for others to follow too.

    Hi

    Fix Error: /usr/local/bin/wifispoonfeeder/spoonwep/tmp/wscapture-01.txt (No such file or directory)

    #spoonwep

    next + launch

    execute this archive:

    rename.sh

    code:

    #!/bin/bash
    cd /usr/local/bin/wifispoonfeeder/spoonwep/tmp

    oldext=csv
    newext=txt

    for oldfile in `ls *.$oldext`; do
    [[ "$oldfile" =~ "(.*)\.$oldext" ]]
    newfile="${BASH_REMATCH[1]}.$newext"
    mv $oldfile $newfile
    done

    save the archive with the name: rename.sh

    Open shell:

    # chmod +x rename.sh

    #Spoonwap

    Next + launch

    Execute this script: rename2.sh

    the same procedure with this script:

    rename2.sh

    code:

    #!/bin/bash
    cd /usr/local/bin/wifispoonfeeder/spoonwpa/tmp

    oldext=csv
    newext=txt

    for oldfile in `ls *.$oldext`; do
    [[ "$oldfile" =~ "(.*)\.$oldext" ]]
    newfile="${BASH_REMATCH[1]}.$newext"
    mv $oldfile $newfile
    done

    Hi pastilla,

    Thanks for your reply and the source url which was very helpful. It now works perfectly except the IV capture rate is very slow and I have read that the driver for my card in BT4 is a bit poor so this may explain this.

    BT3 works well as it uses a different driver and i to ask you kindly if you could answer the questions I put to Cheapbyte ie:

    -Do you know the commands i need to remove the spoonwep package from BT3.
    -Do you know the commands to remove the old aircrack suite from BT3 and install the new one in its place.

    Thank you pastilla for helping!

    Hi bt3 work with linux system SLAX, an bt4 work with Linux system Mother Debian > Ubuntu 8.10 Hardy Intrepid.

    packet debian is *.deb and slax is other packet. *.lzm

    There is a conflict between distributions.

    Better for you is work only with bt4 and new software:
