Exclamation I can't connect to encrypted wireless networks

    Hello!

I have HP nc6000 with a HP wlan w500 wlan card. I think it got the atheros chipset. I can connect to open(non encrypted)networks but not to encrypted networks I use the the Wireless Assistant to connect to wireless networks. Should I use Wireless Lan Manager(kwlan) instead and if how does I configure it. What driver should I use? Should I use any separate program for the encryption?

I have reed that my card should work fine without any configuration but for me it doesn't.

    Thanks

Grab bt4 and use wicd, as your problem most likely lies with the wpa_supplicant

ya the solution is to rtfm on wpa_supplicant ... and why would you not want bt4 ?

This is your only problem right here.
Start with the basics. Learn about what types of hardware you have and if it is compatible. Then move onto learning about linux.
Now you don't need 6 hours of the history of linux, but knowing why you want it would be a good place to start.
Not worrying about encryption programs with wireless cards.
