In bt4 pre, NetworkManager is now networking
#service networking start
(if it is an eth connection and eth is set to dhcp, thats it)
If you want wireless, and have a key...
#service networking start
#ctl C (stop devices from auto requesting dhcp info, but networking is still running)
#wicd
the above starts your networking service and runs wicd gui
Now, for some reason, at least for me, wicd will not start its gui sometimes...so I try from the app menu, and again, only sometimes it still won't appear. The quick fix I found was to add wicd icon to a panel, and click that. This has never failed for me so far (2 weeks use now, hd install)
To anixan,
You have 3 options with WEP (which you should know is like locking your car with a piece of tape)...try them all, it is my guess perhaps you are trying passphrase, when you should be using Shared/Restricted.
good luck, and do let us know if all works![]()
