Hello guys, I have a new notebook without dvd-drive. So I wanne install bt3 with my usb-stick.![]()
But..when my laptop boot from the stick, i can see the fluxbox, but no commando works.I see a flashing underline. This are the the last 11 lines:
Than i can type a commando, but npthing will be accepted.Code:starting Linux Live scripts <hxxp_//linux-live.org/> * starting loop device support * starting cdrom filesystem support * starting squashfs support * starting aufs support with brs=1 * starting vfat support * starting ntfs support * creating /dev enteries for block devices * starting USB support * starting PCMCIA CardBus support * looking for data directory
I did it this way:
fat32 stick->unrar the .ISO->copy to the stick the 2 folders->start the bootinst.bat
I'm sure, that its working on my notebook. But at since somedays no way to come to the login.![]()
Who can help me?![]()
Hello, the md5 hashes are the same.
You need to make sure the folder containing backtrack is named exactly BT3. I once had problems with the exact same behavior during boot from the stick when the folder name was changed.
No the names are the ok. folder "boot" and folder "BT3"
Is it a problem, that I use ubuntu now at mainsystem on my laptop?
As bt3 right boot, I had winxp.
I don't think this has any impact, I'm using ubuntu as mainsystem on my linux-notebook and have no problems booting backtrack3 from either cd or usb.
If you boot from am removable device it doesn't matter what OS is installed to the harddrive.
Hmm shit, today I installed winxp again..but nothing. You say it.
Befor 4 days, I made 3 partions on my usb-stick (Fat32,EXT3,SWAP)
Than when I boot, only a blackscreencome. Can it be, that my stick is "damaged"?
My stick have 8GB.
And I have only a fat32 partition. Only one time I made 3 partition.![]()
Have you tried using the same usb-stick on a different laptop/computer?
If it works there, you know it's your laptop that's faulty..
(might need a BIOS upgrade if it is an old laptop)
other than that I can't think of anything else to try right now..
