    I am willing to try it as well if you still need.

    ATi X850 chipset too old . . . drivers too new (Catalyst 9.5) . . . X850 is not supported by them. You need the older drivers that come "stock" in BT4 pre-final. IIRC, Catalyst 9.3 or older -- go to AMD/ATi site and look at their Linux drivers . . . it will give you the "break point" at which the X850 is no longer supported.
