Boot backtrack then attach your USB device then run
ifconfig rausb0 up
iwconfig rausb0 mode monitor
airodump-ng rausb0

im using a wusb54gc and backtrack3 on a usb
and when i properly boot backtrack i connect the usb
and then type in
ifconfig and it doesnt seem to show rausb0
but after unplugging it and pluggin it for over ten times it recognices it
but then it just dissapears when i use the commands
ifconfig rausb0 up
iwconfig mode monitor
airodump-ng rausb0
can someone help me out solve this problem

the adapter may be malfunctioning as you are talking.after properly booting RT73 chipset.just do this
modprobe -r rt73usb
modprobe rt73usb
and it should show rausb0
well does commands didnt work
i also need to download 3.0.2.tar.bz2 and copy it the
the bt3 module folder correct ?
and after I copy it there do i need to extract it in there or just leave
it there and configure it once i have backtrack properly booting?
(this is for injection)
