Help with DoS attack

i am doing a project on IDS.

i want to simulate smurf attack and syn-flood attack using back track 4.

how to do it with bt4 final smurf and syn-flood attack . Any tutorials or comments would me nice ..

yes there is nmap in bt4 and a lot of other tools

Yes, there are several tools included with BackTrack. I'm sure you've heard of some of them, which is probably why you looked up BackTrack. Google harder.
