Hey guys, I'm trying to install BT4 using the guide posted in the HowTo section and I've run into an issue. I formatted my drive and everything runs ok up until I get to the command
root@bt:~# cp --preserve -R /{bin,dev,home,pentest,root,usr,boot,etc,lib,opt,sb in,var} /mnt/bt/
It runs for a bit and then freezes. Sometimes it throws an input/output error on the program icons for Crystal, and sometimes it just freezes.
How can I make sure that this command executes successfully?
Of course, if you really wanted to have some fun, go to Wal-Mart late at night and ask the greeter if they could help you find trashbags, roll of carpet, rope, quicklime, clorox and a shovel. See if they give you any strange looks. --Streaker69
I downloaded it straight from Remote Exploit's mirrors, so it should. I don't have the ISO file anymore so I can't check to make sure, though.
There is a break between sb & in in your above command. That may just be the forums, but make sure it is not so when you type it. (sbin)
Also it does generally take some time to copy the files over. Can you give us an example of the errors?
Also did you do all of this before you started the x-server?

Ah, nevermind guys. Apart from the Crystal errors it was working fine. I don't know why my CD drive stopped spinning but I guess it was still working. I tried copying over the folders one by one and it worked fine. First Linux install I've ever done without the aid of some kind of installer program. I feel proud of myself. :)
