Hello Everyone!
I'm currently searching for a decent wireless express card for my laptop, and during my searches of manufacturers and forums, came up with some infos that might help other user or people who want to buy such cards.
Just trying to build a small database here, feel free to add what you know, i will try to update the thread..
A very good wireless adapter database is found here, but seems it's not updated very often and there are no expresscard adapters on it.
ht tp://linux-wless.passys.nl/index.php?lang=english
For each card fill in the following:
Name of product:
Manufacturer:
Product reference number:
Manufacturer link to product:
Chipset:
Works (detected) in Backtrack 4 beta?
Works in Backtrack 3 or previous distros?
With what drivers?
Packet injection / monitor mode works?
interesting links on the adapter?
Ok. here goes the 4 i know of...
update 07/23/2009 - DWA-643
Confirmation that the DWA-643 works "out of the box" with BT3 final and BT4 Beta, Madwifi-ng drivers.
Monitor mode, packet injection, all good. The card says H/W#= A1 and F/W#= 1.00. Just in case they update the hardware or firmware, that might be of use.
I have but one problem with it, packet injection can be spotty. It will inject really well for about 30 seconds, then stop.... for about 5 seconds... then go again. It's not a really big deal, but worth noting.

Has anyone used these cards before?
Can you give us your feedback?
It seems netgear also has an expresscard adapter too:
its called: NETGEAR RangeMax Next Wireless-N ExpressCard Adapter WN711
* WN711, Wireless-N eXpresscard adapter
chipset : <AR5416+AR2133>
but it seems very difficult to find... maybe they stopped selling them...
We already have a thread like this.

Do you see any EXPRESSCARD in the database which is the aim of that thread?
as I said in my first post:
- this thread is about EXPRESSCARD adapters
- that database is not often updated (it seems)...
please read full post.
try to find any of the 4 cards mentioned in this thread in that database...
try to find the Netgear WN311T PCI card in that database...
Of course, if you really wanted to have some fun, go to Wal-Mart late at night and ask the greeter if they could help you find trashbags, roll of carpet, rope, quicklime, clorox and a shovel. See if they give you any strange looks. --Streaker69
as I don't have those cards personally (except the Netgear WN311T) yet (I'm looking for one), I would gladly add the information to the database and will do so AFTER the information in this thread has been confirmed by members or people :
- who have them and/or
- who have experience with them.

@tomX, don't get all upset on me here. I merely wanted to point you to the fact that there is another post with tons of information in it already.
Also another good source for info would be the wiki's HCL
