hey man im in the same boat as you. though i do think u need to use "mon0" whenever the "wlan0" is used. try that and see if it works. like in the aireplay command that freezes

The ath9k driver is hella buggy lol. Always drops, and the signal strength sucks. Might as well use a Alfa, or w/e
I am having freezing issues too. I downloaded the tarball but dont know how to update the drivers once I get inside backtrack.
I can get mon0 up and running but as everyone else it freezes because my drivers are not updated. How can I properly update the drivers?
