    i cant get backtrack on line, i think i might have the wrong file, what one is it? and where is it located, sorry if im being a pain in the ass..

    Use:
    locate xinitrc
    and you should find where the file is located.

    Default home directory

    xinit first checks your home directory for .xinitrc
    If not found it then reverts to the generic configuration.

    Thus, individual users can have their own setup since .xinitrc can exist in individual home directories.

    Since you will probably be working in the 'root' directory, dotxinitrc should reside their and may contain your individual specs.

    A normal listing using 'ls' will not show any dot files since they are not visible so use 'ls -a' or 'ls -al' ... but you may know that already.

    Ensure that 'startkde' is in your path: which startkde

    If in doubt, copy the script using : cp .xinitrc .xinitrc.orig
    ...and then edit .xinitrc

    Write again should the problem persist.
