Exclamation startx goes to gray screen and fvwm?

So only a short while after I installed BT4 to hard drive, I restarted and for some reason isntead of loading the KDE interface anymore it stayed at gray screen and had one thing I could do: left click anywhere and a list of Utilities would come up for fvwm... the only remedy I found for this was installing kubuntu from the bt4-crystal fvwm start... then I restart and Kubuntu starts. Mind you I had to edit a file so I could log in as root before I could do anything, but it sucks becuase I don't have all the cool sound effects and the task menue is now missing a lot of items under the Backtrack> folder. They are still on my computer and commands work to run them but it makes it a pain in the ass. If anyone know's how to help please let me know.

It is a known issue that an upgrade will break the system.

Just use the search function and also the correct forum. This one isfor Bugs and the corresponding fixes

Then yes, it was after the upgrade, gray screen, but I fixed it by installing kubuntu desktop, but it sucks and I want the old BT4 KDE setup, how do I do this without being fail.
