    Default what are "IVS"?

I am new to this and I am taking very small steps, like I have finally got my Wifi Card working.
I have started to use Airodump-ng to capture my WEP encrypted AP. I have set my AP to WEP but I am a bit confused.
I need to capture my data and this seems to work well but what are "IVS" that get captured in Airodump-ng? Should I be using this option?

    Thank you for the link.

I would assume then as I have added the WEP-40 to my AP I will need to run the IVS option in Airodump-ng?

You don't have to. But to save space and speed up the parsing of my dump, I usually do.

Thank you. You have beenvery helpful.

The IVS is that where the key or password is stored?
