Can not start X on Packard Bell Laptop
Hi,
I am having an issue with BT4. I'm keen to use the beta edition, but I can not get the X server to run. Each time it tries to start and gives me the following message:
xf86MapVidMem: Could not mmap framebuffer (0x00000000,0x2000) (Invalid argument)
I am using a Packard Bell F5280 laptop with 1Gb mem and SiS M661 video chip set.
BT3 works fine, so there must be something different about BT4 (maybe Debian)
Anyone any ideas?

Good friend of the forums
your card cannot work with framebuffer. Option “UseFBDev” “true” - set that to false in your xorg.conf.

Ok, Thanks. Will have another look at the xorg.conf file. Cheers
