Default Can anyone tell me where im going wrong? connecting to router

    Hey all,

My card is all set up and ready to roll... changed my router to wep to try some of the tools out, had no problems finding the key but having problems connecting to it.

    I'm using these commands--

iwconfig wlan0 mode managed key 25F4AF79DA (seems to work... no errors)

iwconfig wlan0 ap 00:1CF:21:BD:CF mode managed channel 6

    (returns with
Interface wlan0 doesn't support MAC addresses wlan0 Interface doesn't support MAC addresses
Error for wireless request "Set AP Address" (8B14) :
    invalid argument "00:1CF:21:BD:CF".)

I've tried a few different ways all with no luck
could anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance for any help offered,

    Chris

umm.... If your card is in manged mode all you should have to do is:

iwconfig wlan0 essid linksys key 65hy892frw
    dhcpcd wlan0 < bt3
    or
    dhclient wlan0 <bt4beta

Replace with your info of course.

Wow thanks for the quick replay!!

Just tried what you suggested and got this in return-

Error for wireless request "Set ESSID" (8B1A) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Operation not supported.

this to me seems such a stupid problem to be having after getting this far (i'm blaming lack of sleep )

    Thanks for your time,

    Chris
