    Im testin backtarck beta4 on virtual box. asked for loggin and i entered
    root / toor

    so i log in and its in text/console mode. is this correct? does bt4 not have a desktop?

    Try reading the text on the screen, there are several "clues" there.

    type "startx"
    or "bt4-crystal"

    the insructions are on screen,
