I would add to this, perhaps you can learn more about how the system works? Learn the internals of *nix? Learn networking at a greater level? Understand portscanning? Understand a buffer overflow at the hardware level? Learn shell scripting? Learn to program in C?
These are all constructive uses of your time, and Backtrack provides a great platform for all of those things.
