Default Cant find inetd.conf file in Backtrack 3

    Hello guys,

I have been frantically trying to search for my inetd.conf file. However I cannot seem to find it. I know it is supposed to be located in my /etc/ folder but I cannot see it at all. I have tried searching the remote exploit forums & Google but I am still stuck. Therefore I was wondering if anyone could provide me with a possible answer as to why I cannot locate this file. I am running a copy of Backtrack 3 final (installed to hard drive).

    Kind Regards,

    Code:
    root@bt:~# locate inetd.conf
    /etc/inetd.conf
    /usr/share/man/man5/inetd.conf.5.gz
    /var/lib/dpkg/info/openbsd-inetd.conffiles
    root@bt:~#

Thank you for your response & link archangel. I followed the instructions you posted. Unfortunately the locate command returns nothing:

    bt ~ # slocate -u
    bt ~ # locate inetd.conf
    bt ~ #
Any other ideas why this file cannot be located?

Tried that too, still can't find the file. I also tried booting up the BT3 final live cd and searching for inetd.conf - again I found nothing. Maybe the inetd daemon isn't installed by default on BT3 final?
