Default "Fatal server error" after startx.

    Hi

I have a problem when I type startx and get that error message..

    Code:
Screens found but none have a usable configuration

    Fatal server error
    no screens found
I know, i have seen many posts like this, but even that i dont get my problem resolved.

I have HP 6715b laptop.. and have no problems with the CD, that is burned with 4x with Poweriso, and USB Drive (pendrive) wich is fine.. but
can not seem to get it working

    logged in root

    >xconf
    Your ready to go

    >startx

    ******** you no screen found

I also typed in xconf and startx but nothing comes up, hmm.. that will not even help..

Please help me, and thanks in advance!

your /etc/X11/xorg.conf needs some tweaking, post up your xorg.conf.

Open /etc/X11/xorg.conf in a text editor in superuser mode. BT3 should be root by default, so you should be able to open it. If not, use sudo and use 'toor' as the password.

Once you have it, post it here so we can help you out a little better. adding a screen into the file with VESA settings usually works.

Learn your basics. It won't be any good at all just to type in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.

Get a good book about Linux and start reading/learning or ask me or someone else on how to start with Linux. Just jumping onto BT is definately the wrong way to go and you will have more issues than you will be happy with before you get anywhere without basic knowledge.

No offense to you SunSpyda, but if one hasn't changed the default password, (especially w/ some sort of install)then they really do need to read a bit more about security.
