    Default mdk3 in Backtrack 4?

    Hi there,

I can't find mdk3 anymore in Backtrack 4? Where is it?

If I type "mdk3" then it says command not found.

Please add mdk3 to Backtrack 4, thanks.

There is a reason this is a Beta release.

Mdk3 doesn't compile well on BT4B. I found a few posts on google for MDK3 on Ubuntu and changing the make file to gcc-4.2. Bt4b has gcc-4.3.2 but still no bueno. I'm looking further into it. I'm STILL a noob.
I felt like bending the bars back, and ripping out the window frames and eating them. yes, eating them! Leaping, leaping, leaping! Colonics for everyone! All right! You dumb*sses. I'm a mental patient. I'm *supposed* to act out!

Are we to wait before giving feedback on the beta? I've also found some tools missing that were in BT3. I'd hate to wait assuming they will be added later only to find out that they were fogotten. Thanks.

Yes, that is correct. /usr/bin/gcc is a symlink to gcc-4.3. I couldn't find a patch for mkd3 to compile against gcc-4.3 but I did compile it against gcc-4.2. This does require additional software though.
    Code:
    # wget http://homepages.tu-darmstadt.de/~p_larbig/wlan/mdk3-v5.tar.bz2
    # apt-get install gcc-4.2
This will install cpp-4.2, gcc-4.2, and gcc-4.2-base. gcc-4.3 and gcc-4.2 can coexist on the same system, although gcc still symlinks to gcc-4.3.
    Code:
    # tar jxf mdk3-v5.tar.bz2
    # cd mdk3-v5
    # make CC=gcc-4.2
    # make install
Or if you want to install it to /usr/sbin then:
    Code:
    # make install PREFIX=/usr
You can safely remove gcc-4.2 and its additional components if you want.
    Code:
    # apt-get remove gcc-4.2 gcc-4.2-base

    Default backtrack4 pre-release - no mdk3!

Now, some month later backtrack4-pre release is out and mkd3 is still missing!

aircrack-ng and mdk3 are the programs most people use for their wireless work and one of them is missing????

If you need another gcc, then please just install it and add mdk3!

Backtrack4 is not the same for me without mdk3, It's not useful for me in this way, please add mdk3!
