i´d guess he has a pci card ^^ but who knows?
sas2k3, pci cards don´t work in VMWare, only USB.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think what he's saying is that with backtrack3 in vmware his wireless card works fine, but not in the backtrack 4 vm.

Make sure to type

/etc/init.d/networking start

I'm sorry for the assumptions, but where i study, most of the peoples english is this fractured or worse. I spend every day with it, I guess I'm just so used to it i don't notice it anymore.

Didn't notice him mentioning booting backtrack 3. I'll be more observant in the future.

From reading the OP's post I believe he is talking about leprechauns and unicorns. You can't use these in Vmware and they are not supported in Backtrack. You can't compile the kernel on a unicorn.

Umm ok then your issue could easily be solved by reading vmware manual. Its noted on how to allow vmware guests to have access to raw usb hardware.
