Out of curiosity: why do you want to use your webcam on a pentesting distro? Do you want to videochat with relatives (not really backtrack's aim), or do you have a motion detection app to protect your laptop? (which would actually be awesome at cons, just imagine a siren going off as soon as someone nears it)

    hallo,

i would like to use my webcam and chat with someone on the one interface, while playing around with the other wlan interface, thats why I would like to get my cam to work.

I've exactly the same problem. It is said, that above Kernel 2.6.26 the UVC driver is nativly.
But on my backtrack 4 pre final it is not working.
    any help is apreciated

    thx

    Upgrade to BT4 P-F.
You are probably going to be on your own for getting help and support for a web-cam in BT4.
This is probably not on the dev-team "to-do" list.
To be successful here you should read all of the following.

No, it isn't. BTb and BTpf are completely different beasts. Beta is still slax based, pre-final is ubuntu based. You can't upgrade from beta to pre-final, you have to do a reinstall.
