NOT DISK 1

What is this?
This is my walk though of how I broke into the De-ICE.net network, level 1, disk 2.
The De-ICE.net network is on a "live PenTest CD", that creates a target(s) on which to practise penetration testing; it has an "end goal" to reach.
What do I need?

These maybe helpful to: Hate Talk I do not maintain this blog any more but lots of my old videos are up there
I made videos a few years ago for the level 1, disc 1 & 2.
I broke mine up into sections so that you only have to watch the section you are having trouble with with out watching the whole solution. This may be more helpful for people who are trying to actually beat the disc rather than watch someone else beat it.
I have a problem with vmware player... i boot the de-ice iso with vmware player and it "works" fine (the command prompt loads and asks for login...) I configure my eth0 to be in the same subnet:
when i ping 192.168.1.100 it does not seem to exist...Code:ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.10
I'm using Backtrack 4 (installed on disc - not in virtual machine)
So how do I "setup" the de-ice to work from backtrack?![]()
I cant remember if it blocks ping requests...
It could be that you don't have your VMware player setup correctly. As I use virtual box, I cant help you too much.
What mode is the network card?
Are you running de-ice from inside backtrack?

@Grimm
What is your setup? Are you using 1 computer with VMware player installed to run the De-ICE iso and using another computer to boot from a DVD of Backtrack?
Also the De-ICE VM won't respond to pings - use nmap
