    Default Lenovo Thinkpad R500

I get to the login screen... root/toor and then i tried startx... i get a blue screen and a black pointer, it moves.. then after about 10 seconds it goes black... and nothing ever shows up. I also tried bt4-crystal and it shows the BT4 background and my pointer, but in the same amount of time it goes black or shows a crazy screen of mixed colors. I have Ubuntu and BT3 installed on it... here is my LSPCI

    I have the same problem.
I tried it with fixvesa after login and then doing startx. But then it says: no screens found.

It looks like we both have the same graphic card or chipset.
I have an Intel GMA X4500MHD graphic card in mine.

I have exactly the same problem Shavx and Greval mentioned* using a Toshiba Tecra a10-104 with the Intel GMA X4500MHD trying to run the live dvd.
I'm really keen to get a version of backtrack that easily works with the 5100 AGN wireless card it uses.
BT4 works fine on all the other machines in my home, but then the hardware in them is compatible with BT2 easily enough.

*(On booting startx, x pointer appears on a grey background, followed by the arrow pointer on light blue, then a black bar appears where the icons and description for each loading module would be, and the laptop freezes entirely at this point.)
