Thread: no wireless knetwork manager

    Default no wireless knetwork manager

    I have HD install of bt4 dual boot with vista I cant get knetwork manger to recognise my wireless router.

    if i type "iwlist ath0 scan" its on the list also i cant find wireless assistant anywhere?

    im a noob

    have u tried typing /etc/init.d/NetworkManager start in a shell?

    Once you type that command, the manager is that little globe thingy in the bottom right of your screen.
    Of course, if you really wanted to have some fun, go to Wal-Mart late at night and ask the greeter if they could help you find trashbags, roll of carpet, rope, quicklime, clorox and a shovel. See if they give you any strange looks. --Streaker69

    Which wifi card are you using?

    I think you have to load the driver for that card. I remember someone saying it was blacklisted by default.

    how would I go about doing that?

    also why would it work when i type "iwlist ath0 scan"?

    Is wireless assistant not on BT4?

    No, wlassistant is not included in BT4. It can be added if needed, but it is not recommended. Stick with Knetworkmanager or try Wicd.

    yeah i downloaded wlassistant and it isnt working that good.

    to get knetworkmanager working properly i have to /etc/init.d/NetworkManager start

    everything works great now thanks:confused.
