Hello,
I have been trying to get a file from bt4 to my windows machine. do not know any other way but to use winscp, but get an error.
I Nmap my ports and it seems that only port 69 is open, and not 22.
I then checked /etc/services and ssh port 22 is not commented out.
Can someoone please help me figure this out.
Thanks,
Mike
Learn Linux basics since it won't be any good if you use BT without knowing them.

On bt4 you have to generate keys first as they are not configured by default. This is done for a reason.
bt~#sshd-generate
then start the service like any other
bt~#/etc/init.d/ssh start
As the others have stated, if you have trouble getting ssh going than most likely you may want to start with a easier distro.
Thanks PureHate,
I did not know this thanks for helping me.
I will not forget this one.
That now make a lot of sense. I was trying to start ssh like above, but it would not work, because I did not create the keys.
Excellent!
