    Default VERY slow internet browsing

Hi guys-I'm trying to browse the web with my EEE PC that I installed BT3 on. It has an Atheros AR5008 card in it. I can connect to the networks fine, but when I try to browse the web it is so slow. Like 1 minute for Google to come up.

I've got 5 "stars" of connectivity, and it works perfectly here in Windows XP. I'm trying it both off my Live SD card and the other installed directly to the HD. Please help!

you probably didn't set country code, you probably need to check the orientation and stuff of your antenna.

    I'm sure I didn't; I don't know what a country code even is

So what do I need to do?

Also, my antenna is fine-besides being internal, it works fine in Windows XP at the same spot.

    I'll give you three hints:
    • Bumping is apt to bring down wrath. Word to the wise.
    • Drivers
    • Wireshark

Well what the hell am I supposed to do? I've used Google. I've searched the forums. I've patiently awaited a response. The things I've searched for include "country codes", "country codes backtrack", "backtrack slow internet", and now "wireshark". The only thing I can find is a similar problem here, but with no solution.

And still, while people complain about "noobs" who never do anything for themselves, you punish me worse than a noob with vague, f***ing unhelpful responses and threats of "this is what happens if you ask for help more than once".

Sounds like a newb is worse than a noob around here. Would you rather me come here and say "omg h3lp m3 t0 h@ck my int3rw3bs!!!!!!!"

Would you rather be flamed, or worse totally ignored? Given several possible directions for solutions, all you seem to be capable off is whining.

I tried to be helpful, but from now on you can pound sand as far as I'm concerned. You're now on my ignore list.

I would actually prefer that, then you'd be disposed of properly.
A third party security audit is the IT equivalent of a colonoscopy. It's long, intrusive, very uncomfortable, and when it's done, you'll have seen things you really didn't want to see, and you'll never forget that you've had one.

I don't expect anyone to do it for me! I've shown that I'm more than willing to search-but the "pointers" I am given are way too far out for a newbie like me to understand. And I'm not nearly as new as others! I have quite a bit of experience with Linux, but I'm new to Backtrack.

Excuse me? You think that your post isn't flaming? I know you're quite the reputable forum member, but if you weren't, how could posting two words to my question "drivers and wireshark" ever be considered appropriate help for the newbie area?

As I've said, I actually tried to take this suggestion! I searched around for wireshark-I didn't find anything that helped me understand why you posted it or what it could do for me.

As far as drivers, I'm sure that, yes, I need some for my wifi card to work. But obviously there are already drivers installed or it wouldn't work at all. So how am I supposed to have any idea to what you are suggesting?

Seriously, look around my other posts-I truly do appreciate someone willing to help. But those who are being deliberately unhelpful-why?
