Howto xhost or equivalent tool?
Hi there ...
First sorry for my english, isnt my first spoken language, so sometimes, i use the false words - plz forgive me ..
It's not first time that i use backtrack, but its my first time, that i have replace my normal linux desktop with backtrack3 and i have no problems with it, only one that i can not solve self..
In my old distro (openSUSE) i was able to open a exported display from my server to my desktop. But under Backtrack the command "xhost" does not exist - so i was not able to allow the connection.
I know that this isnt a secure environment but can someone explain me, how i can this get to work?
Thanks and for further information, please contact ...
Cheers

Try using ssh with X forwarding.

That's normal, i have use the X11 forwarding (ssh -X) but i cant set with xhost on backtrack that the server is allowed to send the Display. Xhost isnt available on Backtrack

P.S
This is what my server say's when i connect with ssh -X
X Error of failed request: BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)
Major opcode of failed request: 55 (X_CreateGC)
Resource id in failed request: 0x2800000
Serial number of failed request: 1
Current serial number in output stream: 4
Every other distro works, because there's the tool xhost to allow it ...

Solved...
Hi there ...
I have solved the problem. Download the xhost source package, compile it and then i can set the xhost that's allowed to send display to my backtrack.
But this was not alone the solution. Must also edit xserverrc, so that the X Server starts not with -nolisten tcp.
Thanks anyway for helping me....
