unable to get with putty from outside to my dial up machine

Hello,
On trying to perform a pentest on my dial up machine to witness the way it is to get remote access, i installed putty on my dial up pc and tried to access it from outside.
I get response from my pc when pinging, but it was a surprise to find that i can't get connected to it throught putty...
Could somebody give me help to understand this "problem"???
