tkip or ccmp cipher
hiya guys.
just a quick question. does implementing ccmp make my network harder to hack than using tkip?
please forgive me if i sound stupid by asking that.
Not a stupid question, and no, using ccmp vice tkip will not make your network more secure. The flaw in WPA/WPA2 that allows cracking is the same for both. Using a long, non-dictionary password of letters, numbers and special characters will more than likely, keep your network rather secure no matter which you use.Originally Posted by cain#1
There is a TKIP vulnerability that CCMP (AES) wouldn't have, but I agree that a good password would suffice.

So just wanna say thanks for all the hard work moderating posts from morons like him that no doubt we normal users hardly have to read.
Not that this completely relates to the OP's question but slightly on topic... complex passwords together with non-standard and hidden SSID's together with Tx power set to bare minimum should see the evil hackers move past your network and on to someone with lesser security.
Also if your router supports it, set it to only beacon once a second - that should deter anyone trying to Brute-force the SSID.
Just a few ideas... and as we all know the SSID will get broadcast when an authorised client connects.
