problem with rtl8187b

Hi!
i am a newbie at linux.I'm running BT4 Final in VMware.My wireless adapter is netgear WG111 v3 which has the chipset RTL8187B.I use the driver rtl8187 while i have blacklisted the older r8187.So,when i run iwconfig this is what i get:
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

wmaster0 no wireless extensions.

So far,it appears that it works fine.However,when i type "iwlist scan" i get:
lo Interface doesn't support scanning.

eth0 Interface doesn't support scanning.

wmaster0 Interface doesn't support scanning.

wlan0 Interface doesn't support scanning : Network is down

Why does this happen since i have the right driver and patches installed?
On the contrary,when i put my card in monitor mode using "airmon-ng start wlan0 6" for example and then type "airodump-ng -c 6 mon0" it manages to find some APs and clients.And even in this case,when i try the injection test according to the wiki on aircrack-ng.org,my card doesn't seem to support injection
Can someone explain to me what to do?

wlan0 Interface doesn't support scanning : Network is down

Try this:

ifconfig wlan0 up

and then try the scan option again. Let us know how it works.

And even in this case,when i try the injection test according to the wiki on aircrack-ng.org,my card doesn't seem to support injection

This card poorly supports injection. I managed to get it working once, but it was like after my 20th attempt. And it didn't ever worked after that. I think you are better off just buying a new card.

that is strange; i have exactly the same card and i cannot complain. I am noob too, but packet injection with aireplay worx just fine.

airmon-ng check wlan0

should give you some hints too.
IMO, sometimes is best to quit your networkmanager when preforming some actions
