unable to start vmware running on BT3
Hi
I am not new to nlinux but having trouble starting vmware to configure a VM
I tried to start vmware server but I get the following
error message ...
bt ~ # vmware
vmware is installed, but it has not been (correctly) configured
for this system. To (re-)configure it, invoke the following command:
/usr/bin/vmware-config.pl.
I am using ath0 to connect to the internet and when I do start /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl here is what I get
Starting VMware services:
Virtual machine monitor [ OK ]
Virtual ethernet [ OK ]
Bridged networking on /dev/vmnet0 [FAILED]
Bridged networking on /dev/vmnet2 [ OK ]
Bridged networking on /dev/vmnet3 [ OK ]
Host-only networking on /dev/vmnet8 (background) [ OK ]
NAT service on /dev/vmnet8 [ OK ]
The configuration of VMware Server 1.0.8 build-126538 for Linux for this
running kernel completed successfully.
ath0 is bridged to vmnet0 .....
what is it that I am not doing right...
-
vmware can only use usb interfaces for wireless.
-
what do I have to do to make it use the ethernet interface ( eth0) that is bridged to vmnet2 ??
-
I have got it working...
All I have to do was to uninstall vmware by invoking vmware-uninstall.pl
and install and define eth0 to bridge to vmnet0...
