If you have disabled modem in BIOS then sound doesn't work
So what's the fix?
Of course, if you really wanted to have some fun, go to Wal-Mart late at night and ask the greeter if they could help you find trashbags, roll of carpet, rope, quicklime, clorox and a shovel. See if they give you any strange looks. --Streaker69
Is there any reason to disable it in the first place? From your original post one could get the impression that disabling the modem in the BIOS is required for BT3 to boot correctly, but that it will cause the sound not to work. Just asking out of curiosity although I suspect that your post was meant more like a heads-up not to disable the modem option.
