    Default wusb54gc adapter wifi question

hi i think if should start off by saying that im a noob to linux

my problem is that i can not get the wifi working
i have a wusb54gc adapter and i see that it is supported by backtrack3
right now i am runing backtrack off a flash drive

the backtrack wiki tells me to
" ifconfig rausb0 up " hit enter then type " iwconfig rausb0 mode monitor " hit enter
i do and the adapter starts flashing the light
am i doing this right? and after how do i connect because when i go to the network adapters panel in the gui it doesent show up

    you need to just enter

    ifconfig

see if rausb0 is the device you want to use... then what network are you connecting to? does it have WEP? WPA? because in BT3 you have to enter all this in one command, the GUI apps are hardcore buggy so they cant be trusted.

if you are a n00b then bt3 is not meant for you.start practicing on other linux distro like fedora or ubuntu for learning basics.
